On both Linux and Windows, Firefox uses the OS routing table to access the Internet.

Most IT admins will setup SSL VPNs to route everything on the client through the corporate firewall. So when I'm working from home and connected to the office via the SSL VPN, I still have to abide by corporate rules and, for example, can't control or monitor smart devices in my home. Furthermore, they can track my, say, financial transactions as they also employ auto-generated ephemeral bogus certificates to listen on secure traffic; I trust them not to, but it shouldn't come to that in the first place.

Could we have a setting to select the network Firefox uses to make requests, so that Firefox does not depend on the OS routing table and stop sending requests through a VPN?
