I'm personally a heavy tab user but have always wondered why there is almost no support for tab grouping or customization in the native tab bar in Firefox.

I think making it able to group like Google Chrome does for example or at least giving more access for extensions and add-ons would significantly improve the UI in that regard.

I can't wait for this feature to be implemented. I use the same browser for work/study/research and it just helps clear the clutter. After Chrome came with tab grouping, it's made everything else unusable. I hope Firefox gets there soon.

Tab grouping in other browsers is far more superior than what we have with extensions now. Please implement this feature (or provide API for extension authors). Thanks!

Group tabs like Chrome! Or do better than them 🙂 We need more space on the bar tab!

I think this feature is essential for a good browsing experience. You could also integrate it with Multi-Account Containers for a much more superior experience than what chrome offers.

What is outright better, can not be ignored. Mozilla must understand that these many requests are unnecessarily taking up storage in your server and it could be better if you just deployed it after 1-2 requests. Same thing has been requested again and again and again. A simple 5-line code could solve the grouping issue.

Tech industry is ruining inner engineering with this stupidity, Mozilla. Change yourselves.

This is a must-have for Firefox. It is an insanely useful, simple feature that provides the user with immense oversight with ease

I don't like the chrome tab grouping concept, because I find it confusing: in the same tab bar I have different groups, which are relative to different "arguments", like news, new tv, work, etc. all mixed in the same place (even if the groups are closed they are always visible, and distracting me). also when I create a new tab with the + button, or open a bookmark it is not placed in the current tab group (the one of the foreground tab that I'm currently viewing) and I have to manually add the new tab to the relevant group.

Another downside of chrome tab grouping is the wasted space: if I create many tab groups then, even if they are closed (collapsed) they still use precious space in the tab bar. that space should be used for tabs, not for groups.

Instead I prefer the more "focused" concept of workspaces: I can have multiple workspaces, but only one is visible, the others are hidden. This way I'm not distracted by other workspaces. And opening a new tab or bookmarks is automatically opened in the current workspace.

Mozilla should implement workspaces like Simple Tab Groups extension, but with a better user interface. STG has a single button used to switch workspaces, but apart from color is difficult to identify a workspace from another. It's needed some innovative user interface to easily switch workspaces, but unfortunately I not have any bright idea here.

I also believe than not advanced users will be confused by google tab groups concept, but could more easily understand the workspaces concept.

I'm for a Tab Grouping implementation which as closely as possible resembles the one the original Opera browser had called Tab Stacking. If you don't know what I'm talking about you should download a portable version of Opera 12.18 and experience it for yourself. Ten years later and nobody has come even close at coming up with something better. Modern copies are worse. Even Vivaldi, made by ex-Opera developers!, f-ed up their implementation. It's astounding. Maybe I'm crazy and the modern versions are better - but I don't think so. Please try Opera 12.18 and tell if I'm wrong. I'm honestly interested what people think about this.

I could bring some coworkers if Chrome-like tab grouping was an option. That said, it would need to be native, not an extension (like Firefox Containers). Fingers crossed this becomes an option!
