Make tabs visually distinguishable from another (as they once were)

Lately I can't visually tell where one tab begins and the next begins, except by referencing the "X" (close tab) buttom, since it's all white text on a black background.  How about making them look like actual tabs again or alternating the colors or something?

The visual appearance should follow the function. Being able to distinguish one tab from another is a functional issue. Compare the attached screenshot (old vs new appearances).  The old way is clearly superior from a functional perspective.

At least give us an option in the Settings. It doesn't have to be a default (though I suggest it should be).

Another vote for making active tab more visible. Different pc/laptop/mobile screens will experience differently. I have a HP Z-Book and the active tab looks the same as others. Have to mouse over all tabs to find the active one.

This is still an issue in 2025!!! In Firefox 143.

It's a cognitive effort every time I need to distinguish and move between active and inactive tabs, which happens dozens of times a day. Why do you prioritize design trends over function and accessibility? Mozilla's manifesto states: “We are committed to an internet that includes all the peoples of the earth.” Well, an active tab that is difficult to distinguish does not include people with different visual abilities or different hardware screens. Suggestion: you could underline or surround the active tab with a line in the active color. I don't think minimalism purists will complain about a small line.
