Make Ctrl+S save filled PDF form data

When filling out PDF forms in Firefox, pressing Ctrl+S saves the original PDF without the entered form data. However, when closing the PDF tab, Firefox asks whether I want to save the changes, and that version correctly includes the filled-in fields.

This behavior is confusing because Ctrl+S is universally understood as "save the current document as it is now." Chrome and other PDF viewers save the current state of the form when using Ctrl+S, so Firefox's behavior is unexpected.

Unfortunately, I trusted that Ctrl+S had saved my work. After saving, I rebooted my computer, and when I reopened the PDF, all my entered data was gone. I had to fill in the entire form again.

I specifically chose Firefox because I value privacy, so I would expect common workflows such as saving a filled PDF to behave consistently and intuitively.

It would be much less confusing if Ctrl+S saved the current state of the PDF, including all filled form fields, or at least displayed a warning that it does not.

It should work as you expected so you hit a bug likely.

Can you file a bug with the pdf: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Firefox&component=PDF%20Viewer ?

If the pdf cannot be publicly visible, you can restrict the bug to Mozilla employees.
