Hi Thunderbird Team,

As Android (especially on Google Pixel phones) continues to evolve its visual language, I was wondering whether you might consider experimenting with some aspects of the new Material 3 Expressive style in future updates.

Selectively applying expressive elements - such as updated typography, motion, or component shapes (like a floating toolbar) could subtly but meaningfully enhance the user experience, especially with Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1 rolling out this week.

Google has shared some helpful resources and components here, in case you're exploring this direction:

Thanks again for your great work on Thunderbird!

Thanks for bringing this up! It was quite a lift to move from Material 2 to 3, and there are some other items I'd like us to focus on first. If there are certain aspects of M3 expressive that we can pick up gradually I think it would also make for some great contributor issues.

That said, Mozilla Connect is a strong source for our roadmap recommendations, so if this ends up being one of the top voted contenders when we do the next roadmap planning, we'll certainly consider it!
