Live Captioning

Google Chrome and Safari browser have live captioning feature to enable deaf and hard of hearing people like myself to follow the dialogues on the video. Live Captioning will caption the video automatically if the audio of any voice is detected just like dragon speaking software. Firefox should include that feature to increase availability of the accessibility features packed in the browser.

firefox please have live caption .many of my colleagues and friends are leaving firefox to go to chrome for a simple reason there is no live caption on firefox.  live caption is used by many able people yes I meant able people to silence the noise of talking during meetings ie to stop the sound of course the hard-of-hearing community needs live caption so please fire fos  install live captions as soon as possible the current extensions made by some people do not work  please remember if many people leave firefox then firefox becomes obsolete like Alta vista

Yes, I and probably a million other deaf and hard of hearing people will never ever be able to switch from Chrome to Firefox without the live captioning feature. 

It is a show-stopper.

Hi!

Thank you so much for your feedback. We know it is a gap in the experience, and would like to fix it sooner rather than later for all media that has audio component to it.

I understand that watching video with captions is likely a much less common use case, but a combination of auto-generated captions on YouTube and other video websites + Picture-in-Picture (that now supports displaying subtitles/closed captions) might be helpful in the interim if you are not using it yet.

Closed captioning for hearing impaired

Hi:  Many are deaf and hard of hearing.  Closed captions are not on all items and would be if generated within Firefox!  I always use Firefox except now Google has that feature and some of my news channels do not so must use an external to generate!

Totally agree! That would be super helpful to people with hearing issues, folks in loud places, or those who just don't want to disturb others can all benefit from it. It's all about being inclusive and making browsing easier for everyone. So, c'mon Firefox, let's make the web more rad and add that live captioning feature! 🤘😎

Windows 11. Settings > Accessibility > Captions > Live captions

Should be fine with any audio.
