Firefox managed to bring HDR to Macs in 100.0 version. Now it's time for Windows!

It'd be awesome to watch and work on HDR images and videos using Firefox in 2022. Windows is the most popular OS, why not bring HDR here too?
More monitors and devices running on Windows support HDR, so there is an increase in demand of HDR support in Firefox.

The only option for Windows users is either to switch to another browser or to download and use a dedicated app from Microsoft Store.

I am in disbelief that HDR is still not a thing on Firefox. No wonder netflix looks like a$$. Now that I upgraded to ultrawide OLED monitor, the video quality is even more noticeable. I've started to compare videos side by side compared to Chrome and man... the difference is just night and day.

I don't have a great camera but to  naked eye the difference between no HDR on Firefox and HDR on Edge is pretty stark.

Please move this to development, I love Firefox but the lack of HDR support is just really sad, I hate having to use another browser to watch HDR content. Not beeing able to use Firefox for everything just hurts!

I'm truly amazed that this still hasn't been added to Firefox. Firefox is now multiple years behind. I'll continue using Edge.

Hey everyone, thank you for your recent comments on HDR support. I feel your frustrations on not being able to stream high-quality video content in Firefox.

We’ve been doubling down on improving your video streaming experience, but there’s a lot of wood that we have to chop to get there. We want to deliver video enhancements that truly matter when you want to watch movies/shows on your favorite streaming platforms. Part of the work includes various supports our partners require to serve up hi-fi features like HDR or 4K. To list a few, we’ve been building technical support for more secure content decryption for copyrighted material as well as specific video codecs. These are currently in progress, but these requirements need to be shipped before we can work with your streaming platforms and get higher-quality content to you, and resourcing is limited.

I understand this update may cause further frustration, but please know that we’re trying to get the foundations ready so that you can enjoy better video in Firefox. Thank you for your patience.

Any more updates on HDR support? HDR is steadily becoming the norm, we really should have it by now. Right now, the only sensible alternative is Edge browser 😕

Would love for HDR support! Tired of having to open a video on edge.

Hopefully, we'll see HDR support in late Q4 2023 or Q1 2024 at this point. It's pretty annoying having to open a Chromium browser just to have HDR support within YouTube.
