Grouping mail addresses

Two ideas:

First: Editing the group an address belongs to should be easier. Now it is a pain to add an address to a group or, afterwards, change/delete the group assignation.

Secondly: an address should have the option to be assigned to more than one group. This would make it much easier to create specific mail groups.

As larger the address book as more urgent to sort addresses! Since long time I use TBSync which can sync groups to categories. This got lost with the high speed of updates in Thunderbird.

For the moment there is a focus on catogaories as mailing lists. But this can be one aspect of categories only.

Sure: there ar user defined fields. But over years I got the experience that the handling  changes and this information get lost! So bring back groups and, please!!!

PS: If I want to use "Custom Properties" there is no possibility to sort by tehm...
