Force https from popup menu open link/open link in new tab

As plainly as the title suggests, I have forced https active in my regular browsing, however I find when I use the popup menu it does not always open https. I use this often to open internal private IP's in my work role and although I don't have to type out the IP, is still need to add the s to http.
