Mozilla, why don't you provide us with relevant information when prompting for an update?
I long for times back when the link was displayed

I got the same notification in less than 24h after I clicked 'dismiss'. When I checked the versions, I saw that the two notifications were for the same version.
I prefer to see my current version, new version, and optionally link to the release notes.

[About dialog - "What's new" link] Add a link to the Release Notes for the -new- FF version

I use manual updates ("Check for updates but let you choose to install them"), because I like to read the Release Notes -before- updating.

In the "About" dialog, when FF is up-to-date, the "What's new" link points to the current Release Notes, that's good.
But when there is a new version, there's no direct link to the new version Release Notes.
So to read the new Release Notes, I have to :
- click the "What's new" link to get the current version Release Notes
- manually edit the URL to change the FF version: mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/112.0.2/releasenotes/ -> mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/113.0/releasenotes/

This is cumbersome, so I propose to ADD a link in the About dialog, when a new version is detected.
Something like :
- "What's new (in current version)" -and- "What's new in the new version", or
- "Release notes - current version" -and- "Release notes - new version"

Small note, why is there a "discrepancy" in the link name, like "What's new" points to "Release Notes" ?! Couldn't the link be simply "Release Notes" ?

Anyways, the wording is kinda unimportant, I would just like to have a new link !
What do you think ?

I understand why you merged my idea to this one.

However, I've read the bug report (1831906 - Update Firefox's update prompt to include a link to the release notes), and as the title and the OP request say, it's only taking into account the "Firefox's update prompt".
I often quickly dismiss this prompt, because I'm doing something and/or I have several profiles running at the same time.

So, as stated in my previous post, I'd like to have -both- links in the About dialog.
Should I post that wish on the current bug report or create a new one ?

Ok, there's already a bug report for my request : https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1831944

Publish Release Notes in advance

Why not publish Release Notes simultaneously with asking users to update Firefox?  That would give a user all the information before he makes a decision to "dismiss" or "download" the latest update.  The latest update, 113.0.2 would require four brief lines; they explain everything to a user.  As it is now, if a user wants or needs to know BEFORE he downloads the update, he must research it to find out.

If Firefox wanted to be efficient, it would make it easy for people to do updates, not present obstacles that require time and research.

in 'About', provide a 'What's new' link to the new version that is not yet installed.

It's great that you provide it for the version I already have installed, but I want to see what you've done in the version I haven't yet installed, before I install it. It's a pain to find that information.

So this just gets buried in a post more than a year old and ignored, when it would be an extremely easy change?

My grandfather asked about this, but he has passed away. My father also wanted this change, but he sadly is also no longer with us. My son is apprised of the situation and will undoubtedly celebrate its completion, unless it would instead be his son. At any rate we see the progress being made and celebrate that - the various bitchings about it now being merged into one grand bitching.

Update Notes

Can the update notes on what has been changed or fixed be included or linked rather than the note that applies to the last update that is referred to now?

Hey all,

This was delivered in Firefox 116—check out the Release Notes.

Thanks again for your important role in making this happen 💪 we look forward to continuing to collaborate with you all here on Mozilla Connect!

Share your next great idea here.

No, it was promised in release 16, but it was not delivered.  The 'About' screen still only has a link to the current build, not the build it's asking to install.

Agreed. The ability to read about the changes made in the update is still not granted until after updating to the new version. What was asked for is the ability to read about those changes before installing the updates.
