Firefox Password Manager does not properly distinguish between different web projects hosted on localhost. This causes incorrect password update prompts and makes it impossible to manage saved login URLs properly.
For example, consider two separate projects running locally:
Project 1: http://localhost/demo1/
Username: Admin
Password: 123456
After logging in, Firefox saves the credentials.
Project 2: http://localhost/demo2/
Username: Admin
Password: 112233
When logging in to the second project, Firefox prompts the user to update the previously saved password, even though these are two completely separate applications with different login credentials.
The problem becomes even more frustrating when trying to manage saved credentials. In Firefox Password Manager, the URLs for these projects are reduced to just localhost. The interface does not allow users to edit the URLs to distinguish between localhost/demo1/ and localhost/demo2/.
Firefox Password Manager should properly distinguish between different projects hosted on the same local domain.
Credentials saved for localhost/demo1/ should not trigger password update prompts for localhost/demo2/.
Users should be able to view and edit the saved URLs, including their paths, when managing credentials.
Separate applications running under different paths on localhost should be manageable as independent login entries.
Local development environments commonly host multiple websites and applications under the same localhost domain. Developers frequently use different administrator accounts and passwords for each project.
Treating all these projects as the same login destination creates unnecessary password update prompts and makes credential management confusing and unreliable.
Please improve Firefox Password Manager to support distinguishing saved credentials by their local application paths, or provide an option to manually separate and edit login entries for different projects hosted on localhost.
This would make Firefox significantly more practical for web developers and anyone working with multiple local applications.
