These days, more and more AI agents are using browser functionality. Coding assistants, automation tools, autonomous agents—they all need to control browsers programmatically.
Right now, almost everything uses Chrome's CDP. There are other tools out there, but CDP is still the main target. Firefox feels like it's being left out of the AI agent market.
I think Firefox should have its own automation protocol that's actually better than CDP. Better DOM inspection, smarter state tracking, richer page understanding—something people would actually want their AI agents to use.
If that happens, AI tools would start choosing Firefox by default. That's not a few users switching browsers manually—that's entire ecosystems adopting Firefox automatically.
This could be a real opportunity for Firefox to grow in the AI era.
