From what I've heard Firefox for desktop has a password generator, which is great, but firefox for mobile does not, even though the Lockwise app had it. I think password generation is very important, since not having to remember difficult passwords is the main perk of a password manager. googling for password generation on mobile is less convinient than on a desktop, so I wouldn't be surprised if people just don't do that. Adding password generation to mobile firefox would really improve my user experience 🙂

It is a surprise that this feature is still desktop only given how important password generation is and how many people use mobile browsers to create accounts. Hoping this feature may see some light soon.

+1, it is sorely needed.

Currently I need access to a desktop browser to do this, which is often not possible. There are workarounds but none are good.

it needs to just be there in the mobile browser, working the same way as desktop for generating new passwords.

Saw in the latest update to Desktop that it now includes special characters in the password generator and reminded me of how much the generation feature is missing from Firefox on mobile platforms.

With the ever increasing amount of passwords I feel like I'm having to keep track of and accounts we have to make for every service this would be an extremely welcome addition

Perhaps while we're waiting for this @wongfow, you could use Bitwarden. It's a free, open source password manager that works with Firefox on desktop and mobile. Best thing is that it works on macOS, Windows and Linux, making it easy to recommend outside of Apple's iCloud Keychain.

If you use Android, Bitwarden is a supported add-on for Firefox too.

Two thoughts: we need to have secure password generation on Mobile yesterday. It's a security hazard.

Second thought: I wish I could authenticate to view my stored passwords from the Kebab menu. Like on desktop. It's 6 taps deep on Mobile but I use my mobile to key in passwords on offline field devices all the time. It'd be really nice to move that to the main menu.

That’s a really good point @Glidden - surfacing the password manager would be really useful, hadn’t thought of that.

Yeah this is frustrating, would say it should be the number one priority for mobile.

PW for Registration

Firefox for IOS should also offer strong passwords for new logins.

I agree. I've actually been creating accounts using Google Chrome for Android because its not an option on Firefox. Might go back to bitwarden  though

I don't have a desktop I just have this cell phone. It takes up enough of my time. Firefox use to do everything  ,what happened to simplicity. I don't want to keep adding on through different sites. For me to re.ember them all...that is going to happen.  Just Saying, lol

I also wish Firefox for Android (and possibly iOS, though I do not create Accounts via my iPhone) had a secure password generator. Thanks to the secure password generator on desktop I never use weak passwords anymore and most of my accounts have different passwords. It's awesome. Please help with the password generator in the mobile versions of FF.

I wonder how this request is still in Trending Status even after almost 1 year and having 218 votes. I don't understand what Firefox developers are really developing.

@JonI already told that kudos aren't a perfect way to consider a feature development

Yeah this is crazy that its not top priority, I wish I was a developer and I'd hop in. I appreciate the difficulties that go into this stuff, but this really prevents me from using Firefox on Mobile, which makes me question using Firefox on desktop as well.

My current process is I just don't sign up for stuff on mobile, and wait to get back to desktop.
