Firefox for Android - about:config

Give about:config to Firefox for Android and let us customize it the same way we can customize the desktop browser. That... high level of customization was the only reason I started using Firefox back in 2006 and why I still prefer Firefox for the desktop to any other browser.

I stopped using FF for Android 2 years ago because many pages simply won't load and hang in the middle of loading whereas the same pages open just fine and fast using Opera for Android. Since I was unable to send you feedback about that, I stopped using it. But now with Mozilla Connect I can share my ideas and hopefully bring FF for Android to the same glory its desktop cousin already has.

When I disabled IPv6 on the desktop Firefox last week, many of the pages suddenly started loading instantly bc my ISP, among many others in my country, still supports IPv4 only. So I'm 90% sure that if I can do the same with FF for Android, that will change its performance for the better. But it turned out that the mobile FF didn't have about:config.

There's no need to explain my posting. I cannot unterstand, why "about:config" is missing in Firefox for Android (stable). Why we have "about:config" in Firefox for Windows, Linux and macOS (stable), but not in Firefox for Android (stable)? Please implement it or redirect "about:config" to "chrome://geckoview/content/config.xhtml" .

Oh look look! You have only been requested to return about:config to Android 132 times in the last year! That is the point at which my scraper stopped counting!

I can see why you say noone wants this! You can put it behind a config file, you can have us tap the version number 28 times! You can just ask us if we are really REALLY sure!

Why do I want this? Just one example-- turn off JavaScript. Basic standard functionality. INTERNET EXPLORER could do this!

I don't want to install an extension! I don't want to test your buggy Beta version! I don't want to glue a F8 key to my phone. I am one those epicurians who likes my car to come with wheels. Like 132 other lunatics. And it's only June.

It is very important that you get mad at me for asking this question! Because then you don't have to answer it!

If you'll scroll up, you'll see there is a simple workaround to get about:config on the stable version.

So amazed this is still an issue in June of 2024.

I know Android totally **bleep**s the bed on access to storage, but apps can do it (albeit in their little data jails).

I understand that there are some control freaks out there that expect granular control over exactly where their files are download to (i.e. anyone who's used any other browser ever), but I'm sure the vast majority will put down their pitchforks if they can just select Internal vs. SD Card.

I really hope someone from Mozilla can ram this through, or at least entertain us with the reason why less is more and restriction is freedom - as is the custom in the age of en**bleep**ification.

Sensitive version: This request has been open for a long time. It is a commonly expected feature in browsers. I would really like this feature. I would be satisfied if I can just pick between SD Card and Internal.

Please add this feature.

Two years and it's not back. Whoever is making those decisions should stop. They decided to rewrite mobile firefox and we all remember how it ended. Just stop reinventing the wheel.

Should we be grateful for a normal behavior that requires an abnormal  way to set up successfully? It is confusing that the setting of "stable" version can only be set up in an "unstable" way.
