Hi,
Firefox is a really great browser, I use it since the 90s when it was called Netscape, but I think the Firefox Bookmarks Toolbar, Bookmarks Menu, Homepage settings, Shortcuts and Firefox Sync needs an overhaul.
Bookmarks on Firefox Desktop and Mobile is cluttered, e.g. on Firefox Mobile(Android/iOS) it requires 4 taps to dive into the Bookmark entries of Bookmarks Toolbar synced(from Firefox Desktop), that's really cumbersome.
Quick raw ideas...
- Refactor and rename the "Bookmarks Toolbar" to "Shortcuts", adopt the current Shortcuts design, and make it also accessible on Firefox Mobile.
- Refactor and rename the "Bookmarks Menu" to simply to "Bookmarks", and make it also accessible on Firefox Mobile.
- Firefox Desktop and Firefox Mobile should use the same new Shortcuts and Bookmarks structure, and point each to the same counterpart location for cross Desktop and Mobile compatibility.
- On top of that, it would be great to have a "one tap/click" icon solution to access the Bookmarks on Firefox Desktop and Mobile.
- It would be great to be able to set the new Shortcuts as Homepage, to open it on existing and new Tabs
- It would be great to be able to have a non-row-limited scroll-able Shortcuts entry support on Firefox Mobile and Desktop.
- The new Bookmarks and Shortcuts should support add/edit/delete and ascending/descending/manual(dragdrop) sorting of entries, and also continue to support sub-folders for power users.
- Mozilla Sync should be adapted to sync between the new equal and counterpart location of Shortcuts(ex. Bookmarks Toolbar) and Bookmarks(ex. Bookmark Menu) between Firefox Mobile and Desktop.
