The main reason I still use Safari on iOS / iPadOS is that there are good ad-blocking options available to Safari but not to Firefox.

Firefox Focus seems to have a capable ad-blocker included, but this is not available for the standard Firefox app to use.

It would be great if Firefox included an option to use the Firefox Focus ad-blocker in its settings.

In order for Firefox to be a real alternative to mobile Safari, it absolutely has to have an adblocker. Either by featuring integrated AddOns like iCab does, or as an integrated feature. Adblockers are vital for the success of a browser, as browsing the internet without one is unbearable. Plus its a must have to be able to protect one's privacy.

Firefox Focus functions as a very good (from what I can tell) ad-blocking plugin for Safari, but not for Firefox for iOS? Is that because FF already has the same capability built-in and this capability is not needed?

If this is not the case, and there are no technical impediments (you never know with iOS), why not let Firefox pick Focus as an add-on ad blocker? That would promote downloads of both FF and FFF.

(This is such an obviously good idea I bet there's some technical reason why it hasn't been implemented.)

AdBlock pre-installed in iOS

I was using Firefox in Android with adblock extensions. Currently, I switched to iOS and found out there are no usable adblock installed browser. Even Safari with extensions, does not really block all the ads, especially the sketchy ones. Then, I tried the unexpected one, Microsoft Edge, there's a adblock plus pre-installed (not an extension). Ever since then, I camped in Edge. I even tried to switch to Edge on desktop, but I could not, because Firefox on desktop is way more better than others. So is there is any chance Firefox on iOS team could implement or collab with adblock dev together making an pre-installed adblock for everyone in Firefox iOS?

+1 on this ive hoped on the Firefox train back in Quantum after not using it for years and loved it, i wish to stop using Safari or edge on my iOS devices but lack of Ad Block Add on in FF on iOS makes it very hard!  Would be great if you guys were able to bundle something like ABP in the Main App so that people could turn it on/off when needed.

I would say, I know it would be a big change for Firefox iOS, but I hugely believe if you incorporate similar features like the Brave browser in iOS, you will see a huge increase in user adoption.

A lot of people I know and myself use Brave on iOS because it not only block ads, but it also allows Youtube background play and even download the videos.

I understand this would require a RFC / board but I'm sure it would be worth it. It would allow many users to finally complete de Firefox migration / adoption on all of my systems.

Every update for Firefox Focus allows more ads through the browser. I guess it's my fault for keeping it updated but we (hopefully) liked the browser since it made the web better but now I get pop-ups and everything.

I’m going to switch to brave on both mac and iOS because of a lacking native ad-blocker. Though, I wish firefox baked uBlock origin right in the browser.

+1 guys

I don’t get why Firefox is capable of blocking ads on Focus but can’t add an option in classic FF on ios.

It sucks, because I used to use Firefox a lot once, but now it seems pointless, yes I can use it on desktop, and a different browser on my iPhone, but then I don't benefit from syncing across devices, and if I try to use Firefox on both I'm at the mercy of ads eating my limit mobile bandwidth on my iPhone... so easiest solution until something changes is just using a different browser on all devices that does support ad blocking. Edge, Safari, Brave, Yandex... plenty to chose from, although I did want to use Firefox.

Please bake ublock origin in firefox for ios. I have been using firefox on my mac, android phones, and windows but the only thing that’s stopping me on using it on ios is ad-block option.

Bundle uBlock Origin into Firefox for iOS the way AdBlock Plus is bundled into mobile Edge on iOS and Android
