Firefox ad-blocking in iOS Firefox

The main reason I still use Safari on iOS / iPadOS is that there are good ad-blocking options available to Safari but not to Firefox.

Firefox Focus seems to have a capable ad-blocker included, but this is not available for the standard Firefox app to use.

It would be great if Firefox included an option to use the Firefox Focus ad-blocker in its settings.

This may have already been stated, but Brave has an adblocker (Shields) included on iOS but I refuse to use Brave. Orion that I’m using now also has an adblocker integrated (not to mention experimental Firefox/Chrome add-on support but this isn’t the suggestion for that). This tells me it’s possible and this would help me commit to using Firefox on iOS all the time vs whenever I need Firefox for tab-syncing purposes. Otherwise, it’s unbearable to use.

I don't get it. I mean at this point, is Firefox the only browser on iOS without adblocking? My next question is why? It has been years now of waiting.

Baffling how this hasn't been added yet, it's such a no brainier and the one thing stopping me from switching from safari.

If your plugin cannot support ad blocking due to iOS policies, then you must urgently add an option to manually include ad blocker filters—just like Brave and Vivaldi do. Without this feature, the app becomes unusable due to intrusive ads. This severely damages the user experience.

If it’s not feasible to enable a curated collection of extensions on iOS (like Edge does currently), a built-in adblocker with some good default lists and perhaps the ability to add custom ones would be a good alternative. This is the one thing preventing me from being able to use Firefox.

Built-In Adblocker for iOS

The reason I haven't just switched over to firefox despite really loving the desktop experience is that on iOS (and iPadOS) there is no adblocker and the minor tracking prevention just cannot keep up with Safari+Adguard or Brave. A built-in adblocker for iOS would allign with Mozilla's commitment to privacy, many of its users use it specifically to not be dependent on Google/Chromium and/or to use UBlock Origin. I understand that iOS has limitations on extensions for mobile browsers (though Edge just added their own), but even just something blocking most of what Brave is blocking would convince me to switch to Firefox and not look back.
