Status: New idea

In a world where every single usable software UI copies apple and goes the way of bubbly cartoon circles, soft corners, etc, you had the chance to be different. It was a primary reason I use this browser. The UI now looks awful. I'm trying to work and learn online, not pretend I'm in some futuristic cartoon version of a factory control room. Please provide a setting to use the old UI.

Rounded corners on are absolutely awful - they waste space and make targeting tabs with a mouse more complex because tabs are smaller now. And while absolutely terrible color choice can be fixed by the themes, rounded corners, apparently, can't be fixed - they are the same in all themes.

What's especially interesting is that I remember when Nova was originally introduced it mostly got the same feedback - color choice is absolutely awful and rounded tabs are also awful. But user feedback was completely ignored be developers.

NGL i preferred the way firefox looked before everything got round, the everything round trend is kinda lame...

the old UI looked clean and modern enough so... there was no reason to touch UI at all.

Please either revert back, or let users choose how the browser looks.

My tabs are too small now width-wise.  There seems to be a lot of wasted space.  I wound up setting it to "touch" settings, which gives slightly more horizontal space, so i can see a few more characters on tab names, but now the tabs are too tall.

This change sacrifices usability for "prettiness".  I'm not interested in prettiness.

Welp, once they remove the ability to toggle it off that will be the end of any reason to use firefox. Edge is, somehow, better.

Yes, exactly! Even if you can still change it in about:config, they're going to lose a ton of users with this! And I'm one of them. The day I can't use the Proton UI anymore, I'm switching to another browser. I'm never using this UI. It’s absolutely hidious.

I don't understand how Mozilla can miss the fact that people use Firefox because the interface IS SIMPLE AND MINIMALISTIC! Not because it has shiny RGB and hidious round pills everywhere!

This is genuinely horrible!

1. Gradient is annoying and might cause headache. So it should be optional.

2. UI geometry is very specific and should be optional. Not everyone like circled UI and it won't fit in many systems.

3. Ideally theming should take geometry into account. Themes shouldn't be just color schemes.

4. Bring back system window decoration. Nobody asked it to be removed. There are now only few embedded themes made to resemble Gnome libadwaita, KDE Breeze, Windows, macOS. But that libadwaita the,e is beyond boring and looks completely out of place in Xfce, MATE, Lxqt etc.

5. Icons in menus still not delivered. But this is what people really asked.

I left a comment on this post back on the 30th; why isn't it there yet?

Sensei, the one checking comments for bad stuff, please publish my comment about the icons.

Not a tech person so I am not certain what is causing it (too much crammed of differing sizes with some small print for multiple open tabs - granted I need glasses, rounded edges, no idea) but my eyes literally hurt within hours of using Nova outlay and had to restore old outlay asap. Never in my life experienced it, with any application. I have been using Firefox for 10 years straight as my default browser so hope you will keep old outlay available. Otherwise I will be going back to Chrome.

Not a fan of the new default theme either. At least it was easy to install a plain theme to override it.

But you know what would be useful: setting up two themes which are automatically switched for light and dark mode!

Dear Mozilla, I prefer when a software has a stable UI that does not change every year or so. I'm not saying the new Nova look is a complete disaster, I'm just against changing UI that people are used to for no obvious benefits. I want UIs to be stable ideally for decades, not change it every 2-3 years. That's why I left Windows OS, don't make me leave Firefox too.
