Is there some sort of web standard that dictates disabling the swipe-up gesture on the New Tab page? I thought we finally got swipe-up support for the tab list on Android! But it fails exclusively on the New Tab page. This is exactly like Chrome on Android (even when Chrome is configured to use a bottom toolbar, it forces the bar to the top only on the New Tab page, making the swipe-up gesture impossible).

Please fix this bug. If this is an intentional specification, it is a terrible design choice that completely ruins the user experience. I strongly request that whoever designed this rethinks their approach.

Agreed, the Firefox dev team really should consider implementing these UX/ergonomic improvements. Coming from Opera, I was shocked by how poor the ergonomics are on both Firefox and Chrome. Are they really sticking to the whole 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' mindset?
