Users shouldn't be nudged to use the big named pre-approved list of search engines in the settings. When choosing to use other search engines requires downloading and using an extension which carries its own downsides.

Having more browser extensions makes browser fingerprints more identifiable which makes tracking and privacy a bigger concern.

Give users an equal choice!

Most extensions cannot be detected by fingerprinters, only the ones that make predictable changes in the page or block certain requests that a site checks in the background. Search engine add-ons -- the kind that just add a new URL for searches -- shouldn't be detectable.
