Display of Email String

I have noticed that when there is an email string, ie some back forth conversation between the sender and receiver, the order in which they are displayed is from oldest to newest. So far I have been unable to find a way to display the string from newest (ie most recent) to oldest.  Futhermore, this morning I was looking for a reply to an email I sent last night. At first glance there did not seem to be a reply so I opened up the email string and found the reply at the bottom of the list. Quite annoying. Is it possible to change that?  As a new user I like Thunderbird for the most part even though there are a couple of annoying aspects. Patrick
