It would be great to have an option to turn off the badge that shows which profile is currently active.
With “badge,” I mean the small overlay icon that appears on the app icon in the taskbar!

@KimB If you'd like my perspective I just recently, unfortunately clicked on profile as I was trying to sync my two devices.  This forced me into a profile, despite me not wanting one. Instantly realizing I gotten a profile, while I didn't want one I tried to delete it, causing me to lose all my web data history. A real pain. Now my taskbar icon looks ugly, I have a unnecessary profile thing connected to my browsing and I have also because of my (tired) mistake that occurred to being forced into it lost all my browsing history.

Being forced into something, that I didn't have to use before, because of someones idea that I want to categorize my behavior is really unpleasant and unwanted. I like to at least FEEL like I am in control of my own browsing.

It is deeply disappointing this has several pages of comments going on over a year and no resolution.  Why is this not being worked on over, say, shoving AI in which gets lots of active pushback?

For what it's worth I was able to go through and manually edit the profile database to remove the avatar.  You can use something like the SQLite Manager plugin or Jetbrains' DataGrip.

Depending on where your files are (for MacOS in ~/Application Support/Firefox/Profile Groups) there's an sqlite database with a name of some hash.

In the database there's a Profiles table and an avatar column.  Clearing the value in the avatar column evidently removes the badge.
