It would be great to have an option to turn off the badge that shows which profile is currently active. With “badge,” I mean the small overlay icon that appears on the app icon in the taskbar!
It should at least be an option where your default profile does not have a badge, but subsequent profiles can/will. This still allows for easy differentiation without having a badge constantly on your normal profile.
Just commenting to hopefully bring awareness of the issue. I also would rather not have the badge unless I needed it. And I don't, I use other browsers for other tasks.
Yes, please. I've just wasted some time figuring out what the heck that badge is. I didn't ask for multiple profiles. I don't want multiple profiles. I don't want a badge when I use the only profile I ever intend to use.
Give us a way to turn the badge in the task bar off. It uses the same UI paradigm that other applications use to indicate notifications and urgent status. There is absolutely nothing urgent about the default profile in Firefox. I do not want to have the thing on my screen. Turn it off.
Thanks, @verbedr ! Your method of a transparent pixel worked for me too. The icon is still rendered, but since it's fully transparent, it's effectively invisible.
On macOS, Firefox now displays the profile icon as a badge on the Dock icon. For users who only use a single profile, this badge is unnecessary and can become visual noise during work.
Please add an option in Settings to disable the profile icon badge on the Dock.
The fact that some of us are uploading transparent pixels to brute-force this makes it clear that an iconless option is worth considering, even with a warning that profiles might be indistinguishable in the taskbar. With completely different themes, this is hardly a problem.
