Disable Keyboard Commands Setting

I want a preferences setting to disable keyboard commands, especially destructive commands.

Too many times, I have lost messages because I was temporarily reading email on one display, but primarily working in an app on another display. I move my mouse cursor back to the main display and start typing, only to be entering Thunderbird keyboard commands.

Granted, there is a larger usability defect operating here (I used to teach GUI design), but a simple solution for me is

1. I never use the keyboard in Thunderbird, except to type into a filter.
2. If I had a setting to disable keyboard commands, it would alleviate much of my frustration.

Another solution is, if Thunderbirds detects that there is no cursor in the window, disable keyboard focus.
