It would be great if there was a way to customize hotkeys.
Here's how I see it:
 * Have a about:hotkeys panel, with all actions listed, and already mapped shortcuts shown.
 * Whether these should be modifiable or not is up to the dev community, ideally they'd be.
 * When clicking on a hotkey field, ideally, there would be a capturing hotkey feature, or, before this, an AHK like syntax to define hotkeys (not as complex, something like: CTRL+H means this and MAJ+ALT+END means that...)

 * a restore to default button.
 * Done.

It can't be done with an extension because some function can't be accessed by extensions (I'm actually looking for a way to send tab to other device while browsing with TST.). Anyway, I believe this should boost productivity in a number of ways. You guys are devs, you know keyboards are faster than mice. 😛

edit: Corrected the typos, it's been bugging me for months now😅

This is a really good point as it's difficult to track different issues across systems. User customisation of shortcuts is the obvious way to go for this issue. I have a similar problem with Yahoo mail which uses Ctrl+Enter to send. I've sent no end of emails by using Ctrl+something and not releasing the Ctrl key soon enough. Fortunately there is the ability to override that action, but when Yahoo updates it seems to often get reset to default, only to be found out when an email get sent unintentionally. Maybe some people use it all the time, but to me it doesn't make sense it have it default-on as a shortcut anyway, there's a send button that's easy enough and not prone to accidental sends, so I feel your pain!

Firefox is supurb browser and it's so customizable but this is a huge detraction point for me and the primary reason I'm going to keep trying different browsers. I really hope that this someday becomes a priority for developers, I can think of very few other mature, professional software applications I use that don't allow for this.

Honestly, if they're trying to regain market share from Chrome, this is a must-have feature. People (myself included) have been using Chrome for over a decade, and you can’t expect us to relearn shortcuts when muscle memory for said shortcuts is already established. It doesn’t make sense. Let's not reinvent the wheel. We need the option to customize.

Please add this!

For me, I desperately want to be able to change the function of the side buttons on a mouse. By default they are Forward/Back in a page's history, but I find on most mice it's too easy to activate by accident when grabbing the mouse. I know I can disable them in about:config , but I'd love to just be able to rebind them to a non-destructive action, like switching tabs.

How many more years does this simple request have to trend before we get something done about it?

Please add the feature to customize/disable some of the browser's shortcuts. I need to disable the shortcut Ctrl+[

Firefox Team, please consider adding customizable hotkeys as a feature! Many users would appreciate the ability to tailor keyboard shortcuts to their preferences.
