Apple does not want you to be able to use your iCloud passkey on other devices. Similarly, Google and Microsoft all have incentives to keep users locked into their walled gardens by denying users the ability to use a passkey for logging into a website on a different device.

Firefox already has a password manager. Can Mozilla by technical ingenuity/legal action provie a cross-platform passkey experience? This may be a huge win in market share for FF and maybe even a profitable business product offering as most businesses still run on Windows and have users using iPhones (sometimes to access Google workspaces). There is the incentive to adopt a business solution that works across platforms.

If it is technically feasible (maybe with a legal push), I think this may provide Mozilla with a competitive advantage.
