With version 98.0 the saving of .exe files won't ''ask me'' if i want to save the file like in previous versions.I read that the default saving attitude now is auto-saving. I have changed to ''always ask'' most of my content type like it was before, but the .exe type is missing. Please fix this on next version because a misclick - autosaving a .exe file can make things pretty bad. I have tried finding the ''Old Firefox'' folder in order to replace my old prefs.js but i guess newer versions have stopped using that folder. So please fix it.

So glad I'm not the other one.  The downloads are one of the reasons I have always preferred Firefox over Chrome.  It makes no sense for me to have to download say, an html document, instead of having the option to just open it in the browser.

Yes, please revert. I hate the new download system. Until then, I suppose I'll set up an alternate browser for my banking transactions and download heavy applications.

+1000  to what everyone else has said.  That was one of the only real features that kept me from using Chrome.  How presumptive of the FireFox Developers to think that by removing this feature they were making a better user experience.   And The setting to always open a file with a certain app isn't a solution...

Use case: As a designer / web developer, I often use stockphotos and when I click to download one, I don't always want it to open in Photoshop, sometimes Illustrator, sometimes windows photo viewer or sometimes just save it in a certain folder...  I want the option back!

The new download system is very annoying.  Everyone in our office uses Firefox (4 people) and we are all extremely annoyed by the new download system.  We need to have the ability to download each file into a separate directory for our different clients.  This now requires a 2 step process (download and then move the file to another directory) rather than the old one.  We will now have to explore using a different browser that fits our download needs.

Downgraded to the previous version and canceled the future updates. It's now annoying me with Dismissing the reminders but it still less annoying, than the issue with downloads.

Please reverse the download behavior change. It's absolutely annoying and totally disrupts my workflow.
Many thanks to Ujudkma for the temporary workaround.

It does not let you see the screen well since it occupies a lot of screen, I prefer the older system where the downloads are hidden in his menu.

This update has caused more time in my day to day. Since I'm smart enough to be in IT, I'm smart enough to make the decision of opening or saving my content. In my role I have to open hundreds of files and reports each day, none of which I "NEED" to save, I simply review, close and move along. Please change back to the way it was before and allow intelligent folks to make their own decision.

I agree with what so many other people have said - - PLEASE restore the old way of downloading where you have the option of just quickly opening something or saving it instead.  That worked so well!  This new system creates more work and lots of confusion.  Big step backwards.

Yes. Please revert this change or make it an option in the normal settings. This is a very bad change.

I had to explain to a colleague why there is the same download numbered (1) to (25) in his download folder. Normal users don't get it that it downloads without any interaction. He called it boneheaded.
