Would be an amazing addition - love the desktop app as an Outlook replacement, but unfortunately still use the Outlook mobile app due to the lack of this feature alone.
Thunderbird Mobile (for Android) is missing support for iMIP/iTIP (calendar invitation) response emails. For context I will add that in Thunderbird Desktop when a calendar event attendee has responded to an invite the resulting email message shows a highlighted text about the status of the response. There is also a button to either update the event when the response has yet to be processed or show the details of the event when it has been already processed. This capability is missing in Thunderbird Mobile (for Android). Please add it to the feature list as it is annoying to have to lay hands on a laptop just to update a calendar event. Thank you.
I would love a Thunderbird calendar app on Android, especially if it was searchable--if I could find the date of an important event if I searched for the title of the event.
This should have been done yesterday. If it becomes possible to create folders/lists of tasks in tasks, it will be even better. And if all these tasks could be stored in some personal or cloud repository (including support for WebDAV and possibly even FTPS) in markdown+yaml format (YAML for tags with the date of creation, modification, due date, due date of the task and for links to other tasks), so that the folders/lists of tasks were real folders of the file system of the repository storage, and the names of the YAML tags and the md file name format could be configure, then your program would turn into a bomb killing all competitors.
All valid and worthwhile comments. Sadly, I don't think Mozilla are remotely interested in building Thunderbird for mobile devices. In the meantime, I for one, have shifted to Vivaldi and it is brilliant.
I want a total solutione. Don't like this weird installation of calendar and link to contacts. .. the email client is awesome but .... Need more basic contact and calendar functions
I also would love to see this happen. For me personally I would live to see at as a standalone app similar to Proton Calendar and Tuta calendar so whilst I use it with Thunderbirds email intergration I can also recommend it to my other friends as just a really good calendar app for Android!
Thunderbird desktop fixed some issues with Outlook desktop calendar for me, esp. with several calendars using CalDAV, Outlook always messed them up in the end. It would be great if the mobile version could do as good a job and allowed me to get rid of Google calendar on my Android.
I think it is falling on 'deaf ears', unfortunately. It seems that nobody is prepared to offer a combination email/calendar application for mobile. Not Mozilla, Vivaldi, Opera or Edison Mail, etcetera. Why is it so hard?
The position stated 5 months ago in November is unchanged, "there may not be code released, but there will be an evaluation".
We carefully plan projects so that we can allocate manpower in way that we feel best serves users. The result is the prioritized important items listed in the public 2026 roadmap.
Current roadmap for 2026 is a very short list and calendar doesn't appears there, which means that the closest possible date even for the first iteration is probably spring on 2027 (but likely later).
Late to the party here, but this is something that I, and I also belive a lot of other users, have wanted for quite some time. I know that it's possible to sync calendars, contacts, and (I think) tasks from desktop Thunderbird to Android, but I have never had good luck with using EteSync, DAVx5, etc. This is why I still use Tuta and Proton Mail; they both have dedicated calendar apps that play well together because they are designed to work well together out of the box, and this is what TB absolutely needs to have, perhaps making use of FF sync. Anything else is just a cobbled-together sort of solution (which, if it works for you, great! It's just never worked that well for me). It doesn't matter whether there is one TB Android app or two (one for mail, one for calendar) as long as they both come with at least a couple of widgets. I'm hoping that maybe with Thundermail/TB Pro that these things will finally come to pass.
Mozilla, if you still find yourself struggling for a steady stream of revenue, this is the way to get it! Charge for syncable email and calendar the way the other providers do and ask for donations like Wikipedia or the Internet Archive does and stop spying on your users! They're wise to it, and they don't appreciate it! And dump AI! This doesn't seem to me to be something that anyone actually wants. I don't mean to be overly critical here, but it's because I like FF and TB and want them to survive.
On the other hand this is exactly why I no longer use Proton Calendar, because it only works with their dedicated app. I need proper interoperability. And I need proper calendar app on mobile for that too.
