Firefox for Android already lets users choose from several official app icons through Settings → Customize → App Icon. I would love to see the same feature added to Firefox for macOS.
I especially love the Momo icon, with the cute fox hugging the Earth, and I would really like to use it as the Firefox icon in my macOS Dock.
The icon designs and assets already exist in Firefox for Android, so this request should not require creating a completely new set of icons. Firefox for macOS could reuse the existing official Android icon collection and provide a simple icon picker.
The experience could work similarly to the ChatGPT app for macOS, which allows users to switch the application icon directly from its settings. For example:
Firefox Settings → General → Appearance → App Icon
Selecting an icon should change Firefox’s application icon on macOS, including its appearance in the Dock and application switcher, without requiring users to manually modify the app bundle or use third-party tools.
The selected icon should also:
Remain active after restarting Firefox
Persist across Firefox updates whenever possible
Be easy to switch back to the default Firefox icon
Use only official Firefox icon designs already available on Android
This is not a request for a new theme or a different default icon. It is specifically a request for a built-in application icon switcher for Firefox on macOS, similar to the one available in ChatGPT and Firefox for Android.
Please bring Momo and the other existing Firefox icons to macOS!
