Bring Back Old Tab Group Behavior >> closing a grouped tab opens a new blank tab

I LOVE tab groups but I’ve noticed that now when I close a group with the active tab, the browser keeps showing that tab instead of opening a new blank one like it used to.

I found the old way much more useful and would really appreciate it if you could bring that back.

I second you. Here's my post on another thread...

I've been using Firefox since the Phoenix days. Tab groups and privacy are the only features that keep me from abandoning Firefox. When I close a tab group, I want all of its tabs to be hidden so I can focus on the others. Leaving even one tab open completely defeats the purpose of using tab groups and could be the final straw for me. I understand that some people find this behavior useful, so it should at least be optional via about:config.
