(For Firefox for Android)
Right now, when opening a link in a new tab, Firefox places it all the way on the far right of the tab strip.

With many tabs open, this becomes inconvenientโ€”especially when the current tab is far from the right edge. After checking the new tab, returning to the original tab requires unnecessary scrolling or searching.

Proposal:
Place new tabs opened from the current page directly next to the current tab to keep related tabs grouped and make navigation faster.

Benefits:

  • Keeps related tabs together, boosting workflow efficiency.

  • No need to scroll the tab strip to return to the original tab.

  • Matches behavior of other browsers and Firefox desktop (browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent = true).
