You don't need a dedicated Thunderbird Address Book. You also don't need to use Google Contacts. You can use whatever Contacts app you want (many of them are open source) syncing to any address book you want, including self-hosted address books using CardDav. Having a dedicated address book just for Thunderbird would not be a good idea, and it goes against Android design. If every app decided to have their own dedicated address book then you would have to manage one for Thunderbird, Telegram, Whatsapp, Line, and so on... I don't want to manage multiple address books, and Thunderbird should not be the first app to start this trend.

I don't agree with Lancenet

I use 3 diffferent Mail clients (Gmail, YahooMail and Thunderbird) each one is for different puposes.

Gmail is for Subscriptions/Spam and unwanted receipents...YahooMail is for Socials/Friends/Family and Thundebird is just for Business...I'd love Thunderbird for Android featuring an Adress book just like the one for PC

Most Android contact apps let you use multiple address books, so there's no need to stick to just one. Some even support CardDAV groups, which means you can organize your contacts into groups instead of managing multiple address books.

You could have three separate address books, or just one with contacts sorted into groups. Whatever works best for you.

Built-in contacts don’t really make sense. The only app I know that does this is Proton Mail, and that’s just because their contacts can’t sync with the system due to encryption. If you check the ProtonMail subreddit and search for "Contacts", you'll see that their users hate this setup. It goes against the way Android and iOS are designed to handle contacts, and it just doesn’t work well. People want contacts that can sync with the system, that's why Proton users are always saying they want a Proton Contacts app that can do just that so they can replace Google, or whatever service they use. Thunderbird doesn't need a dedicated app because it already works with CardDAV and all contact apps use CardDAV to sync. You don't need to use your Google address book. The address book I use on my phone is the same address book I use in Thunderbird, and that is hosted on my own server. You can host your Thunderbird contacts anywhere and sync them with your phone.

Thunderbird contacts already sync with Android, and you can keep them separate from your other contacts if that’s what you prefer.

There’s really no reason for developers to spend time on a feature that doesn’t add any value and only disrupts how contacts are meant to work on Android and iOS.

Thank you Lancenet for your prompt reply..

I did not know about that (I've tried long ago to use that CardDav tool but never succeeded...I don't understand though why all the sender on my Thunderbird on Android are not shown they way I set them up on my Thunderbird for PC, It only shows their email address and not the given name I want...Do you know how I can manage that?

Thank you again for your help

Regards
