Hello Firefox team,

I'd like to suggest a new feature for Firefox: the ability to choose whether a bookmark should always open in a normal window or a Private Browsing window.

How it could work:

  • When saving a bookmark using Control + D or clicking the bookmark star, Firefox offers two options: “Open normally” or “Always open in Private Browsing.”
  • The bookmark remains in the regular Firefox bookmarks toolbar, just like any other bookmark.
  • When I click a bookmark marked as private, it automatically opens in a Private Browsing window with a single click.
  • The selected behavior is saved with the bookmark and can be changed later through its properties.

Currently, opening a bookmark privately requires extra steps, such as opening a Private Window first or using a context menu. This feature would save time and make Firefox more convenient for people who want certain websites to always open privately.

I believe this would be a useful, privacy-friendly addition that could be implemented directly in Firefox without requiring third-party extensions.

Thank you for considering this suggestion and for your continued work on Firefox.

Best regards
