Add tabs/views to a newtab page

I have multiple sets of pinned page tiles on a newtab page - for personal use, for work, for hobbies. Right now its a compromise where everything is on one newtab page. I want an ability to swipe right/left, or select from dropdown menu, the needed set(personal, work, etc.) of pinned tabs. I tried looking into making an addon, but its impossible to access about:newtab from extension.
