Firefox 153 introduced configurable keyboard shortcuts via about:keyboard. However, it currently allows assigning shortcuts only to "Switch to tab 1..8".

It would be very useful to expose actions such as:

  • Select Previous Tab
  • Select Next Tab
  • Switch to Last Active Tab

This would allow users to create ergonomic bindings such as F1 = previous tab and F2 = next tab without relying on extensions.

I may not have expressed myself clearly. I mean, make it so that in about:keyboard it would be possible to adjust the key for the previous tab and for the next, let's say F1 is the previous tab, F2 is the next tab, and not as now each tab has its own key.
