Status: New idea

This is new with the new Thunderbird upgrade, with no option to turn off. Did anyone request this? I, for one, don't need or want this clutter. If some find it useful, I'm happy for them to have the option to display. Give the rest of us the option to not display it, please!

Yes, please help me declutter the space!  And let me change the font w/o being a coder.

AGREE 1000% with Kristieditor. All those little numbered bubbles create clutter and chaos as well as cumulatively taking up a lot of desktop space. Should have been an option to turn those off, especially as they are a big change in the appearance. I hope you can allot some resources to adding an option to get rid of those.

I really want this option to turn off the oval message count on the folder pane.  To me it serves no purpose and is clutter. The ovals catch my eye first every time I open the app and it's extremely annoying because my eyes keep being drawn there.  Plus, it uses up visual space in the folder pane.  Please give me an option to turn it off completely on the folder pane-- no unread message count, no total messages. Thank you very much!

Please ad an option to turn these ovals and count numbers off entirely.

Absolutely need to be able to turn it off. Unread count is annoying visual clutter and waste of screen space to me. I already know when there are new messages in a folder because of the bolding.

I vote also an option to turn off the unread message counts

Please remove unread message counts

Um yea, this does not make my UI better ... really makes it more difficult to use TB honestly; I strategically leave messages in 'unread' status and really don't need a bunch of obnoxious numbers on my menu pane now

@gn3296Totally, 100%. Everything you said. I strategically leave things unread. In order to get rid of all that glare and clutter I had to wipe out my system of management by marking all my folders read, just so I could make sense of my UI, but of course the counters have built up again. It's annoying and counterproductive. And alienating. And really not needed.

I just really wish a tech person would come on here and tell us what line to add to the code to get rid of it.

Yes, I totally agree.  I would really like to be able to turn on/off the unread count, just as I can the total message count.

Hello

This information
I tested hide the unread count by putting this code into the userChrome.css file

Thanks Agentvirtuel! Your css hack worked for me. Yay!

Thank you, Agentvirtuel, the work around did the job perfectly.

In the longer term, I would still like to be able to turn on/off the unread count just as easily I can the total message count (with a simple setting switch). The hack works fine but it's a bit of a faff and I'm not sure what the consequences might be down the road.

Thank you, @Agentvirtuel, that worked perfectly!  I so appreciate it.  I also appreciate that you included access to the instructions for getting to the correct file to add the code.  I use it so seldom I always have to reference instructions. It's such a relief to not be troubled by that distraction anymore. I'm writing it down.  Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
