I use DuckDuckGo email aliases when sending emails. For instance, when sending an email to [email protected], I would use "[email protected]". Its a combination of "[email protected]" (destination) and "[email protected]" (my sensing alias). In this instance, [email protected] would just see "[email protected]" as the sender and not my real address. You can see this gets rather complicated and can lead to typo errors and especially if I want to generate a new duck address each time as well.
So for my feature request, I'd like to see an option in Thunderbird to generate a new duck alias and automatically format the sending email address for me. This is a simple http request to duckduckgo to generate a new address using an api key the user will obtain. Bitwarden already implements generating a duck address. I would like to see a similar functionality for sending emails in Thunderbird. This could be implemented as a checkbox in the "To" field when typing an email or a popup with a button to generate a duck address.
