There is no way to just block autoplay videos. In settings you can,

  1. Allow Audio and Video
  2. Block Audio
  3. Block Audio and Video

But there is no option to block Video. So if you have "Block Audio and Video" all videos will be paused, as I want, but they also becomes muted. So I need to unmute it.

I just want to block video autoplay, and nothing else. So I want a 4th option,

4. Block video.

I would add to this discussion that even the autoplay blocking needs some tuning. For example, on the Instagram website, autoplay is blocked for the first video after accessing the site. After liking or playing any video, autoplay is enabled for all remaining videos! This is actually very annoying 😕

Ditto. Some "news" stories have the same years old vid automatically starting every time. Really bothersome.

this option is a must. autoplay videos are really annoying. some websites are also hide the video player or hide video control buttons.

  • To Brixter, It seems you either didn't read everybody's comments or don't understand. Video actually has two codecs; audio and video; usually AC1 or mp3 and H.264 video. And yes it can be separated easily, look up the many YouTube converters besides the new YouTube Audio only product.

So to clarify for you: if it can't be separated in a video stream then block it completely, only allow audio streams. Is still a very simple, logical and needed function, as a bandwidth saver.  Audio is a fourth to a 10th the size of a video feed/streem.

I have Firefox media.autoplay.default already set at 5. The vids still play. Let's try again.
