I'd like to add to this idea: beyond hiding and reordering, it would be great to also allow grouping items into custom submenus. This would help keep the menu compact without having to hide things entirely.
To everyone in the community following the discussion about cleaning up and editing Firefox context menus,
I’ve built a browser project that directly solves the problem of cluttered, unnecessary context menu options by letting you neatly fold away infrequently used items. I’m sharing it here for anyone who wants a simpler, more streamlined right‑click menu.
Key Benefits
Collapse unwanted menu items into a clean, expandable submenu without losing any functionality
Extremely low performance impact — lightweight, efficient, and does not slow down your browser
Incredibly easy to use, with an extremely low learning curve. It is simple enough for children, seniors, and anyone to use right away
Built‑in multilingual localization, making it comfortable and accessible for users of any native language
Reduces visual clutter and speeds up your daily browsing workflow
If you’ve been frustrated by messy context menus and want a clean, stress‑free way to organize them, this project is for you.
Let us edit context menus. For tabs most of this stuff is not needed, just looks more cluttered, and something you actually need (close tabs to the right) is hidden in a submenu!
Allow Customization of Right-Click Menu Shortcuts or Resolve "Edit Bookmark" / "Open in New Container Tab" Key Conflict (I key)
"The shortcut for 'Edit Bookmark' and 'Open Link in New Container Tab' is both the letter 'I'. I hope this can be modified, or that users can be allowed to freely customize the keyboard shortcuts for the right-click menu."
You can now even open a split-screen view via a right-click. Who needs that? Unfortunately, this pushes my preferred option "Open in new window" even further down the list. Is there a setting that lets you customize the order, or could such an option be added?
