Hi everyone 👋, I’m Stefan, a PM on the Firefox team. We’ve talked a lot about building AI in Firefox in a way that puts users in control. Today, I wanted to share something new we’re testing that does just that, and get feedback: AI controls. As AI-enhanced features show up in more places across Firefox, we’ve heard that you want clearer ways to understand what’s enabled and how to manage it. This feature is a step towards that. You can read more about the approach in our Distilled b...

Please provide explicit information about how to turn off AI and leave it off.  For me, the constant offering to be "helpful" are intrusive and oppressive. Those wanting to op in can and us wanting to opt out need to be able to do so easily and not have to continue opting out. Thanks

After a search with Google, if the Ai overview section displays the "Ask anything" text area, then cpu runs constantly around 80% with no interaction with computer, otherwise 10-15% when nothing is doing serious work. This way it is making the browser unusable until that tab is closed.

Please do not add AI in the browser as a core feature. If you want to experiment with various ways to use AI, please do it as an optional feature in the form of an addon or similar. Many people use FFX because it is not Edge or Chrome, and that necessitates sth like AI being optional.

Chiming in on the discussion around Mozilla's announcement of intent to broaden AI usage within Firefox: It does not matter if users are given the option to disable the features; their inclusion is immoral in and of itself. AI's destructive effects on the environment, the economy, and the human brain are already well-documented, and it's saddening to see that Mozilla has evidently decided that these concerns are subordinate to their desire to chase a higher market share (a share which, a...

Hi everyone, We recently shared how we’re approaching AI in Firefox with user choice and openness at the center of everything we build. We’ve heard from many of you who’d prefer not to have AI in your browser at all, and we get it: We will soon provide additional settings for you to control how AI is used (or not) in Firefox. Nonetheless, standing still while technology moves forward doesn’t benefit the web or the people who use it. That’s why we see it as our responsibility to shape how AI...

Hello, Today I highlighted some text and clumsily selected a wrong item from the drop down menu, and was disgusted to see I had started some AI slop built into Firefox. I then spent some time trying to figure out how to disable all the AI features that had been added/integrated into Firefox and enabled without my knowledge. I don't care for AI. I don't want it running on my machine locally. I do not want my browser interacting with external AI without my knowledge. Period. I'm alarmed t...

How can we disable AI chatbot shortcut (or customize it)? The current shortcut `ctrl+alt+x` conflicts with a desktop dictionary tool, which I've used for many years.

How it would work: A user installs the "Thunderbird AI Suite" add-on from the official repository. The add-on adds new buttons to the composition toolbar: "AI Assist," "Translate," "Improve Tone," etc. It also adds options to the right-click context menu in the email list and reading pane. When you click a function, the add-on sends the selected text (or the entire draft) to an AI API (like OpenAI's GPT, Google's Gemini, or Anthropic's Claude). The processed result is then r...

Instead of shoving so called AI tools in Firefox, I would love a feature that can detect AI content, whether in text or in media (audio, image, video). Right click a text selection, an image or a video and select "Is it AI?". A popup appears and gives an answer. You could also add this feature to Thunderbird.
