Scroll to top bug with the 158.0

Hello,

I've been facing problems with this 158.0 version of Firefox. I'm used to highlight text when I'm reading/browsing. So every 3-4 click, the browser scrolls back to top as if I pressed Shift + Home. I've been using Firefox for decedes at this point and never had a problem like this. It's really annoying as I have to scroll down and down to find the last sentence I was reading.

Please check it out.

Okay, so as you mention "clicks" you're using a desktop version, not mobile version.

I've just gone to this ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7tQ1v4TCeY ) Mozilla video on YouTube, and I've tried selecting comments, or randomly clicking as fast as I can around the comments and at no-point is the screen scrolling back to the top.

So either an extension you use is causing this, or maybe you use macOS or Linux and the bug is specific to those versions?

I'd first suggest going to Menu -> Help and Report -> Troubleshoot Mode and then visit a site in there you know you had the issue on.  If the issue doesn't happen, then it's definitely an extension causing it.

Do you have any examples of websites where this is happening?

Everywhere. YouTube comments, X.com, substack, my mails so on and on...

Seems like it's a extension issue as you mentioed it. Started troubleshoot mode and never faced this. I'll try to figure out which extension possibly causing the problem and try to reach it's developer now. Thank you.

For me it was DeepL translate extension. After removing it, there's no more auto-scrolling to top when selecting text. When I installed it again, the bug came back.

Thanks for the suggestion! I had this problem too and actually removing the DeepL extension disappeared.
