Vertical Tabs with chasing the New Tab Button and adding a Close Current Tab Button

Like the new vertical tabs, nice work.

But it can feel awkward at times or hard to use.

For example, the new tab button moves down when a new tab appears each time until it's full.  This makes me have to search for it.  Though with existing options you can add a new tab button that doesn't move around to the menu bar but now it's a duplicate since you can't edit the sidebar in the same way.

It would also be great to be able to close the current active tab without hunting for it in the sidebar.  A button that could be added to the menubar.

Also --> more and more tabs + larger and larger screens --> new tab/close tab buttons increasingly further away from location bar and reload/back/forward buttons.  This makes for a lot of mousing back and forth to moving targets. (see attached image)

Suggestions:

a) allow the new tab (+ New Tab) button to go to the top of the vertical tab bar as on option via settings

b) allow the menu bar to have a close (x) button for the current tab so users can do not soley rely on the sidebar to close tabs

I'll second suggestion a) above.

On tablet, if I want to open a new tab, the tabs button is at the very top, then the "add tab" button is at the very bottom, then things like voice search are at the top again. The open new tab should always be close to the top.

@roundpark Absolutely agree! Navigating tabs can get frustrating, especially with growing screen sizes and lots of open tabs. Having a “New Tab” button fixed at the top and a “Close Tab” button in the menu bar would make browsing way more efficient and less of a hunt-and-click exercise. Small tweaks like these could save a lot of time and reduce repetitive mouse movement.
