I have Windows 11 Pro with all the latest updates fully installed as of 03 September 2024.
I have Firefox with the latest update installed version 142.0.1.
I have an 8-core Intel CPU core i7-9700K that can turbo-boost at 4.9 GHz! Plus 64 GB of RAM, the maximum I could install.
On Firefox, I have 26 addons installed and currently 67,875 bookmarks (using the useful count bookmarks addon) organized in many different folders.
I use only two 2 TB (terabytes) SSDs, one 2 TB for the OS and the second for only data. I do not use hard disks anymore.
---My problems?
1) If I go to my menu options and do Bookmarks, Manage bookmarks and I want to do various operations such as copy a few bookmarks to a new folder, the window freeze for a very long time.
When I go to bookmarks menu in this manage bookmarks at the top, if I enter a keyword (any), it takes ages before getting a search result!!!
All this hassle despite the fact that I have 64 GB (GigaByte) of RAM!!! That is very wrong, Firefox should be able to easily handle my big number of bookmarks with 64 GB of RAM!
2) If I now use the bookmarks sidebar at the left, sometimes I have problems but much less than when I use method 1).
3) Sometimes, I check my CPU usage with the Task Manager and Firefox sucks the life of my high specs computer!!!
4) I do have many tabs opened each time I start Firefox. Some at the left saved in two different tabs groups and other tabs left opened.
Sometimes, I click on a tab and nothing happens and I have to wait a long time before seeing the page (more than 1 or 2 min). I have fiber optic broadband that is at 100 Mbps.
Again, another huge problem.
I have been using Firefox for ages but, with all these problems, I wonder if I should see if it is "greener on the other side (Chrome, or MS Edge)" due to these problems.
I would rather have the Firefox team solves these problems for good so that I do not change my browser but the huge problem I have with using my bookmarks or having a responsive tab causes me to think at alternatives.
To conclude, to the Firefox team, when someone has the hardware like it is the case for me, for G.od's sake, make the most of it with your browser Firefox!!! And solve these problems of frozen tabs, frozen search result when I go to Bookmarks, Manage Bookmarks.
Please, solve this painful mess as soon as possible. It must be a priority because it directly affects my usage of Firefox in a very painful way!!!

If it still misbehaves in Troubleshoot mode (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode), you could file a bug:
- via the address bar, go to about:crashes and submit all pending crash reports. Copy the ID of the most recent report.
- via the address bar, go to about:support > click 'Copy text to clipboard' > paste to a text editor and save it as a plain text file
- via the address bar, open about:memory in a new tab > click 'Measure and save'
- file the bug at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org. Choose the 'Report a new bug in a Mozilla product' > Firefox option.
- click the 'Attach New File' button to upload your saved files. Also mention your last crash ID.

I hear you — it’s frustrating when high-end hardware still struggles with Firefox. With nearly 70k bookmarks and many tabs, the bookmarks database (places.sqlite) can get very heavy. Running a database repair/vacuum from about:support, or using the Refresh Firefox option, often helps with freezes when searching or managing bookmarks.
You might also try Troubleshoot Mode to rule out extensions, and enable restore tabs on demand in about:config so Firefox doesn’t load everything at once on startup. Checking about:memory and filing details in Bugzilla could also help the dev team spot what’s going on.
Firefox should definitely be able to make better use of your hardware — hopefully the team can prioritize these performance issues soon.
