When using the search for Thunderbird's calendar, 90% of time it doesn't find anything at first. If I start playing around with settings, switching between 'all events' and 'current month', moving the months back and forward, etc. it will eventually start working properly. Its like you have wake it up by shaking it 😕

@s_okuda how is it with version 128.2.3 or newer?

I have version 128.2.3. I can not get any searches to work in Thunderbird Calendar, regardless of event range, be it past or future or today or next week or month etc.

Same here, also with version 128.2.3. Search function in calendar finds nothing regardless of time range.....

Similar problem here
Version 128.2.3esr (32-bit) / Windows 10
- sometimes there is no reaction to the search request: all events remain displayed.
- sometimes there is no reaction if you change the selection in the "All Events" to "Events in the Past" (nor any other value) in the pull down box.
- sometimes it works. (After closing and re-opening Thunderbird.)
==>"Thunderbird calendar search has to be prodded into working"
This may help: I do not use the internal calendar, only one external CalDav an two external Google calendars.
In addition (another problem?): The "Calendar" pane is too wide for the window. Some elements are not displayed on the right. And you can't scroll horizontally! (No scroll bar at the bottom.)

I have just downloaded version 128.3.0esr (32 bit). Since I regularly need to look up events in my calendar, I had hoped the problems would be gone but this is not the case (nor was it promised in the release notes). However the search function seems to be working better, especially when using Events in Current View.
With that view selected, I can now find an event by entering a search term and scrolling forward or back, week by week, using the < > buttons. This workaround is not infallible and sometimes one needs to close and re-open the Find Events function after changing the search term.
I hope others will find this useful. A bonus is that, as s_okuda has suggested, having used the search function for a while the other date parameters also start to work. Is this because the program works better once multiple queries have been created?

I have just upgrade to 128.3.1. Past search still not working. My calendar entries are from multiple google calendars. When I search for an item all entries still appear in the search results. The "contains" search does nothing. Scrolling all events, as there is filtering, does not change the displayed search result for along time but the entry has actual changed. When you hover over displayed events, the real entry appears but it takes time for the display to catch up. It is not useable at present.

Just upgrading from 69 and realized many productivity things do not work.
1) Missing account colors
2) In Thunderbird 115 Search for all events works
3) In Thunderbird 128.3.1er: Worsened again:
Search for all events there, but search just not working: Too slow and THunderbird almost hanging (althoug having 64 cores and 256GB RAM), keyboard typing also hangs
Tried setting up new profile doesn't help.
The same use case on my weak Poco X3 with aCalendar+: Finds any calendar entry extremely fast and also works fine with Thunderbird 69(search was a bit slower but was ok).
4) Also more clicks are needs in claendar: Double click on calendar entry: Just opens first a view dialog, and then 2nd click needed to actually edit
5) Thunderbird global search is still broken. Normal search still not possible:
While calendar search really finds stuff without any glory index (at least in TB 69 and TB 115) e.g. "There is a duck", then just typing "s a duc" finds it also in aCalendar+(but much faster),. Here We use emClient free to search. Use case is search for invoice number DK-4432V341B: like 32V3 not possible, but in calendar this jsut works without any magic indexes.
I hope this helps the devs.
THanks

Account Color Customization: By popular demand, you can now customize the color of your account icons. These colors also appear in the “From” selection when composing emails, adding a light personal touch to your email experience.
