this new update with the Ai assistant has made me loose faith in firefox and mozilla

Making moves

I cannot overstate the deep deep sadness that waking up to Firefox telling me it added an ai assistant has brought me. Ive been recommending firefox to anyone and everyone for years and this one move has completely shattered my faith in firefox as a respectable alternative to chromium.

the least Mozilla can do is tell me how to gut this ai from my computer/browser so i at least don't have to rollback to an update that doesn't have it.

I know how you feel. Mozilla’s higher-ups are not making smart decisions. They’ve made some of the worst choices ever. They could focus on better things instead of wasting time on AI projects nobody cares about.

Take the Ladybird Project for example. Despite having far less funding and a much smaller team compared to Mozilla, they’re consistently making impressive progress with their browser and engine. Meanwhile, Mozilla seems stuck in a cycle of bad decisions. Imagine how much better Mozilla could be if they adopted the mindset of the Ladybird team, made smart choices, and put real effort into Firefox. Instead of clinging to Gecko, they should revive the Servo project and invest in making it great again.

I want you to check out this page https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/discussions/when-is-mozilla-gonna-ditch-the-gecko-browser-engine-for-... and spread the word about it. Get as many people as possible to give it kudos, leave comments, and engage with it actively. We need to show Mozilla just how serious we are about these issues. If we want Firefox to improve, we have to pressure and push Mozilla to take action. Otherwise, nothing will change, and both Mozilla and Firefox will continue to decline. I don’t want to see that happen all because of a bunch of stubborn higher-ups who refuse to acknowledge their mistakes.

We should consider starting a fundraiser and a petition to demand that Mozilla retire the Gecko engine and fully commit to Servo. Servo is not only newer, better, and more modern than Gecko. It’s also easier to maintain. The sooner they ditch Gecko for Servo the better Firefox will be. With a stronger browser we can convince more people to use it which will in turn push web developers to respect its presence.
