Something that hasn't been made clear: Firefox will have an option to completely disable all AI features.
We've been calling it the AI kill switch internally. I'm sure it'll ship with a less murderous name, but that's how seriously and absolutely we're taking this.I'm curious if this will restore the lost trust after the new CEO's remark of making Firefox an AI browser.
Personally I have serious doubts. So far I haven't seen any app or software that has a comparable "killswitch" that is then detached completely from the AI part.
The fact alone that Mozilla is hiking along with the whole AI hype, is for me proving enough that no we, the users, are important but data gathering (or whatever it's called), is.

Honestly I've made this account only to give feedback regarding these feature and what is to be done about them.
The people developing Firefox are completely delusional and out-of-touch with their userbase: adding a killswitch will do NOTHING to repair or recover the loss of trust and the brand damage from these decisions, being that people use Firefox EXACTLY to not have to deal with telemetry and ads(and don't get me started about prompt injection honestly).
The damage is already done, and honestly if you're a person that uses Firefox for privacy I'd say to look for something else like LibreWolf or Brave(though I haven't searched on Brave's principles and development commitment so I can't recommend it fully): either Mozilla reverts the ToS changes and releases a message that states CLEARLY that there's not gonna be AI or telemetry ever in Firefox, or I'm expecting this project to become another piece of abandonware in the Mozilla's graveyard.

If they were taking this seriously, there wouldn't need to be a kill switch because the AI crap would never have been forced into the browser in the first place.
"We're a popular restaurant known for our commitment to food safety, but in order to keep up with new technology we're going to start bringing you a room temperature raw chicken nugget with every order. Don't worry, it's on a separate plate and you don't have to eat it, you can even ring this bell we're going to start putting on the table in a few months and a server will come take the raw chicken nugget away."
Maybe you could try just, you know, not bringing out the raw chicken nugget to begin with?
