For years I've protested the changes Mozilla has made to Firefox. I've had an account on here before and posted about similar issues in the past but it seems like as always Mozilla doesn't listen. They have some focus group or metrics that seem to be more about copying bad ideas from their competition and consistently taking Firefox and making it worse.
As a great example, the Ai controls. I love how they touted giving you control over Ai stuff. Uh this is a web browser, not an LLM. Perhaps work on the browser not controls for 3rd party stuff. Now we have Nova, another notch in the Firefox UI team being completely inept at their job. It's like RGB Unicorn Puke for your browser.
Firefox still "claims" to give you choice while consistently removing it. Forcing users to resort to Firefox-UI-Fix and BetterFox along with a ton of custom css to make the browser sane. To get back functional UI, to do away with the Duplo block touch UI bloat, the god awful colors and to show or hide things that used to be in the normal menus iirc in the Firefox v30-60ish days.
Release after release, year after year of hemorrhaging users, alienating their user base and we still get these lofty redesigns they think will attract users back...it's like George Costanza Opposite Day! Everything they do is the opposite of the intention. i.e. They just keep driving people away with bloat, ugly UI, removing choice/workflow capabilities, added useless crap that makes settings overly messy, complex, confusing.
For added effect I know most Chrome browsers are bloated, years of 16GB of RAM for 1 Chrome tab jokes but the reality is Firefox is no better. Slow, piggish and even with all the hacky "fastfox" style fixes it is underwhelming.
How the hell do we (the users) get these Tech Bros running Mozilla to LISTEN!? To comprehend we want smaller tighter UI. That I should be able to put my FLIPPING URL/Nav bar ON the Tab bar like I COULD DO a in Firefox like v20 to v60!? I should be able to set my damned New Tab page, I should be able to set my colors with a color picker rather than be at the whims of "theme makers." (Yes I know there is Firefox color, which has been broken for years.)
Perhaps I'm just too old (I was running Firefox back when it was still called "Fire Phoenix") but I'm sick of updates taking all that I've set up, all I've got tweaked EXACTLY how I like it or need it and some dip ____ at corporate decides to push some unasked "fresh new thing" on users to break every thing you want/need/like!
