When running SilverBench (https://silver.urih.com), Firefox performs orders of magnitude worse than Chrome, and ramps up the CPU to where the fans start screaming, yet still underperforms, whereas Chrome doesn't drive the CPU nearly as hard. Is this something that can be looked at?
This performance gap is also noticeable when playing YouTube videos - Chrome runs them easily, while Firefox tends to overheat my laptop while ramping up the fans.
SilverBench performance comparisons below.
Dell M18, 16GB memory, WIndows 11 25H2
Mac Mini M4, 8GB memory, Macos 26.5.2
I've been a Mozilla browser user since the first versions on Windows NT 3.1, and run Firefox on Windows, Mac, and Linux. I only use Chrome as a backup for sites that Firefox won't run properly, or when Firefox underperforms.
