Pinned Tabs & Their Association with Group Tabs

Using FF on Mac. I recently began using Group Tabs and I like having this functionality. I have noticed one moderate issue with Group Tabs & Pinned tabs:

  • Pinned tabs cannot initially be added to a Group Tab
  • It is necessary to unpin the tab, then add it / create the group tab.
  • Once in the group the tab can be pinned and it will then exist in the group tab. All works as expected.
  • The flaw: If FF is quit and restarted or the machine is rebooted. The pinned tabs are no longer in the group tab. The pinned tabs move to the far left, same as they would without the group tabs function. The first few steps above must be re-performed in order to have them in a group tab...that group tab may / may not need to be recreated.
  • Reason I stated 'may not' have to be recreated, is that after the browser restart, the group tab 'may' still exist, but as stated above the pin tabs are no long in that group. Actually any unpinned tabs that existed to the right of the group tab (not previously added to that group) are now in that group.
  • Additionally if I had more than one group tab, after FF restart, the second group no longer exists.

Great feature, but there does seem to have some issues. Hopefully these will be corrected.

I was looking for a way to have pinned tabs inside tab groups and found this. I hope the feature gets implemented in the next version of Firefox. Thanks to the Firefox team and keep up the good work!

Thanks for the feedback @lthibx & @jsabater! There's also an idea thread here for the ability to pin tabs inside a tab group: pin tabs inside a tab group

Feel free to check it out, give it a kudos (kudos equals votes), and add any more input 🙌
