on android: setup thunderbird fails, k-9 succeeds

Hello,

I've been trying to set up thunderbird on my android phone to access my email server using it's domain name, but it fails.  I looked at wireshark and the phone sends a TCP [FIN,ACK] part way through the process.

If I set up thunderbird to access my email server using it's LAN address (192.168. etc.), it works with no [FIN,ACK] until the TLS exchange is complete.

I have an old BB Playbook that I've had for years, and its proprietary email client sets up OK.

I downloaded and installed K-9, and it sets up OK (with the warning about my self-signed certificates).

I read that K-9 is eventually going to morph into thunderbird, so I just wanted to warn that there may be a problem to be addressed -- TCP timeout, maybe?
